The Greek Festival
Hello everyone! I hope you guys are having a wonderful Wednesday 🙂 It’s been cloudy here the past couple of days and the humidity is still lingering but it’s starting to feel a little cooler (thank god!). I know it’s been awhile since I’ve done a blog post but my school work load is getting heavier, so I’ll most likely be doing my blog posts between Wednesday and Saturday.
This past weekend I went to the annual Yiasou Greek Festival located at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral here in Charlotte. What I love about autumn or as autumn approaches are the festivals that go on here and if you live in Charlotte you’ve probably heard of the Greek Festival. You can eat Greek food and desserts, drink Greek beer, buy artwork, jewelry, go on rides (for kids), and watch people perform traditional Greek dances. It’s a nice cultural experience and something different to do other than your normal routine weekend outings.
I wore a maxi dress with some black flat sandals from Forever 21 and paired it with some gold jewelry, including my go to Michael Kors Horn Jet Set Watch. I decided to put my hair in a bun so that the dress is the main focus. If I were to have worn my hair down I think it might have looked a little bit too busy. I think maxi dresses are perfect for early autumn festivals unless you plan on being very active or going on rides. They can be dressed up or dressed down depending on your makeup, jewelry, and what shoes you pair with it. For a festival, flat sandals are the best option but wedge sandals could have also worked for this look if I was going somewhere else that didn’t require a lot of walking; especially in grass. Wedge sandals are also a little too dressy for a festival…unless it’s a fashion festival (hehe 😉 ). Maxi dresses are breezy but can also keep your legs warm if it becomes slightly chilly outside and you can always bring a light sweater with you. I love the pattern on this maxi dress, it’s very festive and lively; it’s perfect for this sort of thing. Most people might shy away from bold patterns like this but give it a try, It might look good! As I always say, it’s better to blend out than to blend in! If everyone dressed the same it would be boring. Hope you guys have a great rest of your day! 🙂
