RIP Joan Rivers
As some of you may or may not have heard, Joan Rivers passed away yesterday at the age of 81 due to unexpected complications that occurred when she went in for an endoscopy on her vocal cords earlier this week. She passed away while in a medically induced coma and on life support. I was really hoping she would pull through and get better; I’m deeply saddened by the news of her passing. Joan Rivers was on a show called Fashion Police that airs weekly on the E! network. She was so funny and had the best jokes. Some of the things she said about celebrities outfits sounded kind of harsh but she was never trying to hurt anyone’s feelings; she just wanted to make people laugh. She told it like it was and spoke her mind and that’s what I loved about her. Fashion Police will never be the same without her. She is such an icon and a legend; she was basically one of the first female stand up comedians and paved the way and helped so many other aspiring comedians. Some people didn’t like her because they thought her jokes were too harsh or raunchy but even if you didn’t like her you can’t deny that this woman was determined, motivated, and a hard worker. Even at the age of 81 she was filming for Fashion Police then hopping on a plane to go back to NYC to work on her book and comedy sketches along with selling jewelry on QVC. Right before she went in for her procedure she was at one of her appearances for her book called “Diary of a Mad Diva” and she said “Fashion shouldn’t be taken seriously, wear what you want and have fun.” I couldn’t agree more. She was the first person EVER to ask the well-known question we hear all the time today on the red carpet, “Who are you wearing?” That’s legendary! You will be greatly missed Joan and thank you for everything you’ve done. My prayers go out to you and your family. <3
